Slips and trips cost dearly

Precise figures are hard to come by but the cost of slips and trips to the UK economoy is huge. Winter sees the worst of it, not suprisingly, with increased accidents from ice and snow for both people and vehicles.

The Health and Safety Executive suggests the costs of trips and slips, including those exacerbated by ice, cost UK employers £500m p.a. Falls bring a cost to the NHS of around £2.3bn. And if an individual makes a personal injury claim that can be anything from a few hundred pounds to in excess of £100,000.

With winter approaching, prevention is better than cure and simple measures can be deployed to reduce the risks.

We introduced Ice Gaurdian signs last year to help landowners and operators communicate the risk of ice to pedestrians and drivers. They have since become a popular choice across organisations as diverse as airports, construction sites and factory complexes.

Simple to install to posts or walls, the Ice Gaurdian sign starts to flash it's powerful LED's as soon as the temprature drops below 3 degrees. Powered by industrial grade AA batteries, they need no external power source. Battery life is typically 2-3 years and batteries can be simply swopped out when they run low. All variants are highly visual with an ISO standard ice symbol forming the centre piece surrounded by the flashing LEDS.

Consider Ice Guardian flashing LED signs to reduce risks from ice and snow to your site users this winter.
